Meet Hannah

Hannah Waleski was drawn to engineering because of its analytical nature. As a math lover, she has always enjoyed the challenges of using numbers in real-life situations. Hannah studies at the University of Notre Dame with a major in Mechanical Engineering and a minor in Engineering Corporate Practice.

Hannah enjoys getting involved in clubs and organizations. Her favorite campus activity is Student Engineers Reaching Out (SERO), where she has the opportunity to fix toys for local hospitals. She has even designed and 3D-printed a mechanism that helps disabled youth ride bicycles. She also belongs to the Society of Women Engineers and serves as Campus Commissioner for her dorm.

For the summer, Hannah obtained an internship at Mericle. As a Pittston native, she has always been familiar with the Mericle name, especially driving through CenterPoint Commerce and Trade Park on her way out of her town.

However, just as she was ready to begin her summer internship, she received an unexpected,  once-in-a-lifetime chance to study abroad. The Mericle team was very supportive of her opportunity.  “I am very thankful I had the chance to travel in Europe and most of all that Mericle was so understanding and flexible about my start date,” Hannah said.

After exploring Mikonos, Venice, Rome, Florence, and Paris, it was time to explore AutoCAD, Revit, and Trace, the software Hannah has been learning since her start date in the Mechanical/HVAC Department. She has enjoyed her transition from school work to real life applications.

Hannah, Mericle Summer Intern

For the rest of the summer, Hannah is eager to learn more about her field from her team members at Mericle. She is also looking forward to an end of summer trip to Wildwood, New Jersey, reading, and spending time with her goddaughter. As for career plans, upon graduation, she hopes to obtain a job that has a balance of both business and engineering.

Meet Skyy

Skyy Peperno is a rising sophomore at Temple University. She is a student at Temple’s Fox School of Business, where she is focusing her concentration in marketing with a minor in public relations.

Wanting to gain real-world marketing experience, Skyy believes there is no place better to put into action what she has learned in the classroom than Mericle Commercial Real Estate Services. She is performing a summer marketing internship with us, splitting her time evenly between Mericle’s marketing department, and the team at DiscoverNEPA.

Skyy says what she values most about her internship is the opportunity to observe our team members and gain as much knowledge as possible about the field she is pursuing.

Skyy, Mericle Summer InternSkyy’s long-term goal is to pursue a career on the marketing side of the fashion industry.

At school, she is a member of Greek life, and the Temple University Fashion and Business club. She made the dean’s list both of her semesters as a freshman.

In her free time, Skyy enjoys reading, exercise, and creating art. She also works as a hostess and bartender at AV Restaurant.

Meet Teagan

Back in 2017, Teagen Staudenmeier felt sparks when she first reached for her brand-new Canon Rebel T6. Since then, she has become quite adept at taking all kinds of eye-popping photos.

Teagan studies photojournalism at Penn State University where she is a photographer for Onward State, a member of the executive board for the Penn State Photo Club, and an AURORA (orientation) Leader.

In conversations with friends, Teagen often recommends DiscoverNEPA, Northeastern Pennsylvania’s first-ever regional quality of life resource. She calls DiscoverNEPA a leader in producing videography and photography content. So, when it came time to search for an internship, she knew exactly where she wanted to apply. She was thrilled when she found out she had landed a DiscoverNEPA internship.

Since joining DiscoverNEPA, Teagan has been on several shoots with the videography and photography team. Her favorites have been stops at a RailRiders game, Bushkill Falls, and the Fine Arts Fiesta.

In her free time, Teagan enjoys spending time with friends and family, visiting Canada, hiking, and photography.  Lucky for Teagan, her internship has a lot in common with her hobbies. For example, she has enjoyed creating content about hiking for DiscoverNEPA’s TikTok account.

Meet Jimmy

New accounting intern, James “Jimmy” Dunleavy says, “no one could live in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania and not know the impressive portfolio of the Mericle company.” As a graduate of Holy Redeemer High School, Jimmy remembers seeing the classic blue and white Mericle signs throughout the years.

Jimmy is currently a finance major at Penn State University where he is also a member of the Real Estate Association, Greek Life, and the THON Committee. After obtaining his finance degree, Jimmy would like to attend law school and has an interest in real estate law, business law, or corporate law. He developed an interest in this career path through seeing his father transition from being a state trooper to working at a law firm.

When seeking an internship, Jimmy wanted to make a selection that would help him develop a background in business. He says that he sees great value in “putting educational experience to work in a corporate setting.” He says that his college classes in Excel, Accounting, and Management Information Systems have helped him the most in his work so far.
