The Mericle Family YMCA, the Hazleton Branch of the Greater Wyoming Valley Area YMCA, held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on July 29 to ceremoniously open the renovated facility.
The Mericle family and our design and construction team members were instrumental to bringing the facility back to life.
Rob and his family contributed more than $6 million toward the $10 million-plus renovation and our construction team members completed most of the interior fit-out.
“Growing up, I spent nearly every day at the Wilkes-Barre Y, swimming or playing basketball until the lights went out,” said Rob. “The Y shaped my childhood in ways for which I’m still grateful. Watching this building go vacant in 2019 pained us immensely. I knew then that Hazleton families deserved the same kind of place. My family was determined to make sure this project got done because a revitalized Hazleton Y has the power to strengthen this community for generations.”
Congratulations to the Mericle family for making this wonderful community project possible.
