More than 60 people were on hand on December 9th at the United States Marine Corps Reserve’s (USMC) Toys for Tots warehouse, 163 CenterPoint Boulevard, CenterPoint Commerce & Trade Park East, Jenkins Township, to present the USMC with donated toys and books. Those attending included employees of Mericle Commercial Real Estate Services and representatives from Mericle tenants throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania.
For 17 years, Mericle has donated storage space to the USMC providing the logistics needed to collect, prepare, and distribute toys to area children during the holiday season.
“Our 2014 Mericle Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Challenge gave our employees and tenants the opportunity to work together to ensure that disadvantaged children in Northeastern Pennsylvania are remembered during the holiday season,” said Lew Sebia, COO, Mericle Commercial Real Estate Services. “Our partners in business and our employees didn’t just participate in the program, they rallied behind the cause more than tripling last year’s commitment to Toys for Tots. We are proud of this combined effort and we thank them for their overwhelming support,” concluded Sebia.
Sebia said that employees from 56 Mericle tenants donated to the effort.
Last year in Northeastern Pennsylvania, more than 35,000 toys, games, stocking stuffers and books were collected for some 20,000 children in eight Northeastern Pennsylvania counties.
For more than 60 years, the USMC has been dedicated to bringing smiles to the faces of our nation’s most economically disadvantaged children. To date, through its highly regarded Toys for Tots Program, the USMC has distributed more than 469 million toys to more than 216 million less fortunate children.
