Drivers in Hazle Township may soon notice steel being erected for the newest building in CrossRoads East Business Park.
Mericle Commercial Real Estate Services has begun constructing a 450,000 square foot industrial building at 125 CrossRoads Boulevard South at the intersection of Route 424 and Route 309.
This is the second of what will be many industrial and flex buildings Mericle is constructing in the new business park. A 372,000 square foot building at 210 Innovation Drive North, just off of Exit 141 of Interstate 81, is almost fully enclosed and will be ready for tenants next spring.
Mericle will break ground for a 147,000 square foot flex building in the park next March.
Mericle has designed all of its buildings so they can be subdivided and customized for a wide variety of manufacturing, distribution, and life sciences firms. The first three buildings are being constructed in Phase I of the business park.

Key features of the 450,000 square foot industrial building include an average structural clear height of 38’2”, 54 loading doors, two drive-in doors, clerestory windows for natural light, and energy-efficient utilities.
Mericle President Rob Mericle said CrossRoads East Business Park is a good example of how successful public-private partnerships can help create jobs and generate community investment.
“This project has received tremendous support from Hazle Township, the Hazleton Area School District, Luzerne County, Governor Josh Shapiro, the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, Senator David Argall, Representative Dane Watro, and CAN DO,” Mericle said. “Because of this partnership and our speculative building program, Greater Hazleton will benefit from thousands of new jobs and significant new tax revenue,” he said.
Meanwhile, Mericle will soon complete construction of a 248,000 square foot speculative industrial building at 620 Oak Ridge Road in the nearby Humboldt Industrial Park. Mericle has developed more than 6.6 million square feet of industrial space in the park.
