CWC Annual Walk

The Cancer Wellness Center of NEPA’s Annual Walk will be held on Saturday morning May 10th in Forty Fort.  More than 500 walkers are expected.

The two-mile walk is the Center’s largest fundraiser and the event’s proceeds are used to provide free services to cancer clients and their caregivers.  The walk begins and ends in the parking lot of the Center’s headquarters at 190 Welles Street.

Board Chair Kim Mericle says the Center has assisted thousands of people over the past 28 years.

“Each year, The Cancer Wellness Center of NEPA helps hundreds of new cancer clients and their families through their cancer journeys,” she said. “Financial support from area businesses and the public is critically important and enables us to provide free services to adults with cancer, their families, and caregivers. We meet new clients daily and the demand for our services is as high as ever.”

Mericle said multiple events will be held leading up to the Walk.

“On Sunday, May 4th, we will be holding a purse bingo and on Friday, May 9th, we will be holding our Pre-Walk Pep Rally,” she said. “Other events are being planned for that week as well.”

During the morning of the Walk, a vendor fair will be held in the parking lot at 190 Welles Street and Mother’s Day floral bouquets will be available for purchase.

Co-chairs for the Walk are Amy Andrejko and Emily Courtois.

Courtois said numerous local businesses will be fielding teams for the event.  “The Walk provides a great opportunity to build employee camaraderie while helping a very important cause,” she said.
