(April 12, 2007 - Pittston Township, PA) — Mericle Commercial Real Estate Services announced today that the company will build four industrial buildings totaling more than 1.1 million square feet in the new CenterPoint Commerce & Trade Park East, located in Pittston and Jenkins Townships. All of the buildings will be completed and ready for tenants before the end of 2007. The announcement came at an event held on site at CenterPoint, where Dennis Yablonsky, Secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Community & Economic Development, welcomed the arrival of three new park tenants—The Men’s Wearhouse, FedEx Ground, and Lyon Conklin and Company. DCED had previously provided grants and loans to help recruit The Men’s Wearhouse to CenterPoint. Secretary Yablonsky’s visit came approximately 18 months after Governor Ed Rendell visited CenterPoint and announced that the state would be investing in the park’s infrastructure via several state funding programs. The event showcased the significant progress Mericle has made converting previously scarred mine lands into a viable business park. Mericle Chief Operating Officer Lew Sebia thanked the Governor, Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development Secretary Dennis Yablonsky and Senator Ray Musto, as well as the many state, county, and local elected officials who have had a hand in CenterPoint’s success, before announcing an unprecedented 1.1 million square feet in speculative development that will take place within this year.
Mericle’s aggressive building schedule calls for the construction of four major speculative buildings that will total 496,000 SF, 254,000 SF, 217,000 SF, and 136,000 SF, respectively. With site work already begun, the company has committed to finishing all four buildings during the fourth quarter of 2007. The buildings are being constructed in phase I of CenterPoint, which encompasses about 377 acres. -30-
