(June 1, 2007 - Williamsport, PA) Mericle Commercial Real Estate Services recently represented Smurfit-Stone Container in a successful sublease of their 131,000 square foot building, located at 64 River Road, Jersey Shore, PA.
The sublessor, C&E Container of Jersey Shore, is a corrugated box manufacturer with a rapidly expanding business that serves all industrial markets. This move will allow the company to increase their workforce so that they will soon employ 25 people. “It is exciting to see this building taken over by a company that needs room to grow. C&E’s expansion is not just good for them—it is good for the community at large,” said Jeff Bower, the Mericle broker who handled the transaction.

(April 12, 2007 - Pittston Township, PA) — Mericle Commercial Real Estate Services announced today that the company will build four industrial buildings totaling more than 1.1 million square feet in the new CenterPoint Commerce & Trade Park East, located in Pittston and Jenkins Townships. All of the buildings will be completed and ready for tenants before the end of 2007.

(February 6, 2007 - Wilkes-Barre, PA) Robert K. Mericle, President of Mericle Commercial Real Estate Services, announced today that Stephen Barrouk, Past President/CEO of the Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Business and Industry, will be joining Mericle as Vice President of Business Development Services in the firm’s Brokerage Division. Barrouk led the Chamber for 18 years and previously spent 14 years in Pittsburgh doing economic development work.
Over the course of his career, Barrouk has helped hundreds of businesses to expand and acquire capital in Pennsylvania. He spearheaded the effort to build three new industrial parks in Greater Wilkes-Barre, expand two others, and redevelop three major landmarks in Downtown Wilkes-Barre: The Stegmaier Brewery, Pomeroy’s Department Store and Woolworth’s. The Northampton and Main (theater complex) Project was accomplished during his tenure. He is credited with conceiving the Arena Project and serving as the first Chairman of the Wachovia Arena. He was a founding Board member of the Great Valley Technology Alliance, Penn’s Northeast and the Diamond City Partnership.

In his last two positions, Guari worked as a Commercial Banking Officer / Vice President, where he structured business loans and contributed to the growth of commercial loan portfolios, while establishing and procuring deposit and credit relationships with local businesses.
